Senior Social Worker (0.7 FTE, 12-Month Fixed Term)

About the Role
The Senior Social Worker collaborates with the multi-disciplinary team to ensure the delivery of excellent, person centred care for consumers and their families, carers, supporters. The role provides leadership and works to build capacity and capability within the social work team, focusing on psychosocial care, discharge coordination, and safeguarding.

Leadership and capacity building
Lead, and build capacity in social work practice e.g. psychosocial assessment and intervention, discharge planning, single session family consultation, liaison with internal and external agencies, Multi Agency Risk Assessment and Management (MARAM, Family Violence Information Sharing Scheme (FVISS) and Child Information Sharing Scheme (CISS) frameworks
Ensure a robust system is operating in relation to case load allocation and workflow within the social work team
Provision of supervision and mentorship for students and early careers social workers in collaboration with the Social Work Education team
Establish and maintain links with community agencies (housing, welfare, family violence, drug and alcohol) that contribute to improved inpatient and discharge pathways
Classifications for this position will be HR25
Your Contribution
Bachelor of Social Work or master's in social work with eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). Qualifications obtained outside of Australia must be supported by an International Qualification Assessment via the AASW.
Extensive experience in acute mental health settings along with well-developed leadership skills
High level interpersonal, consultation, negotiation skills
Commitment to work collaboratively and effectively as part of the multidisciplinary team with multiple key stakeholders both internal and external of the St Vincent’s Health organization (including consumers, carers, family members and community agencies).
Sound understanding of key legislation and frameworks including but not limited to the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022, MARAM, FVISS, CISS
Willing to obtain National criminal history check.

About St Vincent’s Mental Health
St. Vincent’s Mental Health (SVMH) provides high-quality, recovery-oriented services across an adult area mental health service for the inner-city areas of Yarra and Boroondara. The service utilises a strengths model of recovery, embedded across all parts of the mental health service. St Vincent’s is committed to the development of its workforce. The adult mental health service components are: The Footbridge Community Care Unit (CCU), Acute Inpatient Service (AIS) located on the St. Vincent’s Hospital site, the North Fitzroy Prevention and Recovery Care service (PARC) and two community mental health services at Hawthorn and East Melbourne (Clarendon). Community mental health services comprise the Triage and Crisis assessment and Treatment (CAT) service, Continuing Care (CCT), Mobile Support and Treatment (MST) and Homeless Outreach (CHOPS) services. The Primary Intervention and Care Team (PICT) include Extended Triage and HOPE (Suicide Prevention), Supporting Tenants at Yarra Housing Project (STAY). A Consultation & Liaison Service is provided to the health service.
