Colormaker Industries Australia is a well-established, family-owned manufacturer of quality coatings for interior and exterior application. Amongst a broad range of technologies, Colormaker also manufactures and exports market leading world class products in textile screen printing inks and high solids epoxy swimming pool coatings. The business is based on Sydney’s Northern Beaches.
We require a dedicated coatings & inks Quality Control (QC) Chemist to join our busy team of specialists in Brookvale, NSW.
Reporting to the Senior Chemist and Technical Manager, the duties and responsibilities of the role will include:
- Performing laboratory tests/QC procedures on paints and raw materials and recommending improvements for Factory Production and Product Development
- Preparing materials for test and/or experimentation
- Performing calculations, computations and measurements
- Analyzing test data results and preparing relevant reviews, reports and summaries
- Auditing and controlling the quality and quantity of materials used in QC tests, R&D and product maintenance
- Checking, calibrating and maintaining test equipment and other laboratory facilities
- Management of Safety Data Sheets, both Raw Materials and Finished Goods
- Technical and other support to Customer Service and Marketing, including translation of technical and other product literature
- Proficient use of Tencia/Arrow, Color I Control and relevant business software (including MS EXCEL). Also use of company systems
- Maintenance of relevant QC and Production records and related administration
- Adhering to appropriate workplace health and safety standards and making recommendations for improvement
- Management of Hazardous Materials and Dangerous Goods.
- Advising and sourcing materials for Research and Development (R&D) projects
- Carrying out product development work on new and existing products
We offer a competitive remuneration package of between $70,000 to $85,000 per annum, excluding superannuation.
The successful candidate will have either:
- A relevant AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma plus five (5) years’ work experience; or
- At least ten (10) years of relevant full-time work experience
The successful candidate must have coatings experience. In particular, high solids epoxy, high performance industrial surface coatings, broad wall architectural and construction membranes etc would be highly regarded, as would knowledge of textile and other screen printing ink technologies. They must also be passionate about the environment, have a good eye for colour and for detail as well as an ability to work with minimal supervision. A high degree of numeracy and literacy in English are mandatory, whilst technical fluency in European languages would be highly regarded.
