We are seeking an experienced Senior Resource Geologist to lead the development, maintenance, and reporting of resource models at Costerfield.
About The Role
Reporting to the Geology Manager, the Senior Resource Geologist is responsible for delivering accurate and reliable resource estimates, while providing day-to-day leadership and direction to the resource geology team. This includes building team capability, ensuring continuity of knowledge, and actively developing future talent and succession within the team.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Resource Geologist to join our team at Costerfield. In this role, you will be accountable for the production, maintenance, and continuous improvement of resource models, ensuring high-quality geological data supports operational and strategic decision-making.
This is a dynamic position combining both office and field-based work, including time underground. You will work closely with technical teams and leadership to deliver accurate, timely, and compliant resource estimates while fostering a high-performing and collaborative team environment.
The key responsibilities of the role include:
Team Leadership & Development
- Provide daily leadership, guidance, and support to the resource geology team
- Set clear expectations, priorities, and performance standards for team members
- Mentor, coach, and develop geologists to build capability and technical expertise
- Identify and develop succession plans to ensure continuity within the team
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and high-performance team culture
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing development of team members
Technical Leadership
- Lead the development, validation, and continuous improvement of geological resource models
- Provide expert input into resource estimation, reconciliation, and reporting processes
- Champion best practice in geological data collection, modelling, and estimation techniques
- Ensure compliance with relevant reporting standards (e.g. JORC, NI 43-101)
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across resource geology practices
- Provide technical guidance and oversight to ensure quality and consistency of outputs
Resource Modelling & Reporting
- Develop, validate, and maintain geological resource models
- Perform grade control and resource estimation
- Deliver accurate and timely resource reporting, including reconciliation
- Validate geological datasets and maintain data integrity
- Support QAQC processes and laboratory management
Planning & Technical Contribution
- Identify and communicate infill drilling requirements to improve resource confidence
- Support and contribute to resource conversion drilling programs
- Manage contractors and ensure delivery against plans and timelines
Safety & Leadership
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with WHS legislation
- Identify, report, and address hazards and risks
- Participate in emergency response activities
- Exercise authority to stop work where safety concerns arise
Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders across geology and technical services
- Communicate clearly on deliverables, timelines, and risks
- Maintain professional and respectful relationships, including with local landowners
Contribute to broader business initiatives such as investigations and training

About You
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
· Bachelor of Science (Geology) or equivalent
· 7+ years’ experience in a geology role, ideally within underground mining
· Demonstrated experience in resource estimation and reconciliation
· Strong skills in geological interpretation and modelling software
· Proven experience in project delivery and contractor management
· Demonstrated leadership experience, including mentoring and developing team members
· High attention to detail with a commitment to quality and compliance
· Strong communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills
· A proactive, safety-first mindset
