Position Overview
We’re looking for a caring, reliable team member to join us in a blended Doggy Daycare Attendant/Groomer role. You will support our daycare operations by supervising dogs, maintaining cleanliness, assisting with drop‑offs, and helping manage the busy start to the day. You will also perform grooming services when bookings are scheduled. The ideal candidate is confident with coat preparation, tidy‑ups, and straightforward grooms across a variety of breeds, and enjoys working hands‑on with dogs in a warm, boutique environment.
Key Responsibilities
Dog Daycare Duties
- Supervise and interact with groups of dogs during playtime to ensure safe and positive interactions.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of play areas and staff areas within the building.
- Feed dogs and monitor dog behaviour in group settings.
- Manage check‑in and check‑out processes, including customer communication and dog handling.
- Observe and record any unusual behaviours or health issues, reporting them promptly.
- Provide affection, enrichment, and mental stimulation for all dogs in care.
- Perform daily admin tasks (emails, calls, record keeping, data entry).
- Conduct temperament assessments.
- Capture photos/videos and create social media content.
Grooming Duties
- Perform bathing, blow‑drying, brushing, nail trims, and tidy‑ups.
- Complete basic grooms and simple breed‑appropriate styles.
- Prepare coats safely and efficiently for grooming.
- Maintain grooming room cleanliness and equipment hygiene.
- Provide gentle, patient handling to ensure dogs feel safe and comfortable.
- Communicate with clients about grooming needs and outcomes.
- Work confidently and independently when grooming bookings are scheduled.
Requirements
- Certificate II in Animal Studies (or equivalent) preferred
- Certificate III in Pet Grooming or equivalent industry experience
- Minimum 2 years grooming experience
- Experience with an extensive variety of breeds and grooming styles
- Confident with bathing, prep work, tidy‑ups, and basic grooms
- Strong understanding of dog behaviour and safe handling
- Experience handling dogs of various breeds, sizes, and temperaments
- Ability to work independently and maintain a high grooming standard
- Must have your own grooming equipment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Reliable, punctual, and comfortable in a fast‑paced environment
- Physically capable of standing, walking, and lifting up to 15kg
- Basic computer and social media skills
- Legal right to work in Australia
- Pet CPR/First Aid certification is a bonus
- Availability for shifts between 7:00am and 6:30pm
Schedule
Rotating roster from Monday-Friday (hours from 7am-6:30pm). Closed on weekends and public holidays.
