We are seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join our team based at Meandu Mine project near Kingaroy

We are seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join our team based at Meandu Mine project near Kingaroy. Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, the successful incumbent you will provide geotechnical support to mining operations, ensuring stability, compliance, and continuous improvement across the site. This role is critical in ensuring the safe and efficient design, monitoring, and management of pit slopes, dumps, and associated geotechnical structures.
This is a DIDO or residential role operating on a 9 day fortnight roster. Accommodation will be provided.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and assess pit wall, highwall, and dump stability;
- Conduct geotechnical inspections, mapping, and hazard identification;
- Provide design input for slopes, dumps, and haul road construction;
- Analyse and interpret geotechnical data (e.g. slope monitoring systems, piezometers);
- Develop and maintain Trigger Action Response Plans (TARPs);
- Support drill and blast design from a geotechnical perspective;
- Prepare reports, risk assessments, and recommendations for operational teams; and
- Liaise with operations, planning, and external consultants.
Capability Requirements:
- Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Mining Engineering, or Civil Engineering;
- Experience in open cut coal mining (highly regarded);
- Strong understanding of slope stability, ground control, and risk management;
- Experience with geotechnical software (e.g. Rocscience, Slide, Phase2, Leapfrog);
- Ability to interpret monitoring data and provide practical recommendations; and
- Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to safety.
