Alya is seeking an experienced and confident Male Disability Support Worker to join the support team of an older male participant living with a Traumatic Brain Injury in Warner.
We are looking for someone who can build a genuine and trusting relationship while providing practical, hands-on support with daily living, personal care, mobility and manual handling.
Due to the physical nature of the support, we are looking for a worker who is fit, physically capable and confident providing hands-on assistance.
Depending on the day, your support may include:
- Supporting personal care and daily living
- Mobility assistance and physical support
- Manual handling, transfers and positioning
- Supporting independence around the home
- Assistance with household tasks and everyday routines
- Meal preparation and shopping
- Community access, appointments and outings
- Encouraging participation in activities and interests
- Providing companionship and meaningful social connection
- Supporting the participant to remain involved in his own routines and decisions
- Following individual support and manual handling plans
- Completing clear and accurate shift documentation
- Communicating effectively with the participant and his wider support team
Who We're Looking For
We're looking for an experienced, capable and dependable Support Worker who is comfortable providing hands-on support and understands how important dignity, patience and independence are when supporting someone with a physical disability.
You may be a great fit if you:
- Have experience supporting people with acquired brain injuries or physical disabilities
- Are confident providing personal care
- Have experience with manual handling, mobility support and transfers
- Are physically fit and capable of safely meeting the requirements of the role
- Are patient, respectful and able to build genuine rapport
- Can encourage independence without taking over
- Are proactive and confident working independently
- Have a calm, down-to-earth and person-centred approach
- Have strong communication and documentation skills
- Are reliable and committed to providing consistent support
Previous experience with TBI, acquired brain injury, physical disability or complex support is highly regarded.
