About the Role
Poncho Restaurant, located in Bentleigh East, 3165, is seeking a passionate, qualified, and experienced professional Chef to join our team. This is a full-time position, and you may be required to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, as the restaurant operates 7 days a week.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the overall kitchen operations, ensuring efficiency and quality.
- Present food creatively with decorative displays and plating techniques.
- Inspect raw ingredients to ensure freshness and usability.
- Prepare and cook dishes from our menu, maintaining a high standard of taste and presentation.
- Plan and estimate food and commodity requirements for menus.
- Monitor and manage budgeting, cost controls, labor, and food costs.
- Lead, train, and mentor kitchen staff, including cooks and kitchen hands.
- Prepare ingredients, including meat and vegetables, using varied cutting and marinating techniques.
- Collaborate with customers to plan menus for special occasions such as parties or events.
- Regulate heat and cold sources like ovens, stoves, fridges, and freezers to ensure food quality.
- Maintain knowledge of market trends and improve menu offerings as required.
- Take feedback from customers to enhance food quality and service.
- Collaborate with management to improve kitchen efficiency and productivity.
- Develop recipes and adapt menus to meet special dietary requirements (e.g., vegetarian, vegan, cultural preferences).
- Manage food storage and preservation to reduce waste.
- Ensure adherence to food safety and hygiene standards.
- Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen and workstations, following occupational health and safety procedures.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Minimum of 3 years of highly relevant experience is required, with preference given to candidates with additional experience.
- Relevant qualifications in Commercial Cookery.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
- A results-driven and confident approach.
- Flexibility with working hours.
- Excellent communication and technology skills.
- Attention to detail and the ability to deliver high-quality results under pressure.
What We Offer
A salary ranging from $70,000 to $85,000 plus superannuation will be offered, based on experience and skills.
