The Cathedral School is seeking an exceptional teacher and leader to join our community as Head of Sport and Co-Curricular Activities. This is a key promotional leadership position responsible for shaping the strategic direction and day-to-day operation of the School's sporting and non-performing arts co-curricular programs.
Reporting to the Principal and Deputy Principal, this role provides leadership across a diverse and vibrant program that includes inter-school sport, representative pathways, sporting academies, debating, chess, clubs and societies, and student leadership opportunities. The position plays a significant role in fostering student participation, achievement, belonging and wellbeing while supporting the School's vision of developing inquisitive minds, kind hearts and purposeful futures.
About The Cathedral School
The Cathedral School is an Anglican co-educational school in Townsville catering for approximately 1,200 students from six weeks old to Year 12, including 170 boarding students. About the Role
As Head of Sport and Co-Curricular Activities, you will:

Provide strategic leadership of the School's sporting and non-performing arts co-curricular programs.

Lead and develop a high-performing team of coaches, coordinators and support staff.

Oversee Cathedral's extensive Sporting Academy Program and student participation pathways.

Coordinate major sporting competitions, events, camps, tours and awards programs.

Build strong partnerships with sporting organisations, community groups and key stakeholders.

Ensure effective risk management, compliance and safe program delivery across all activities.
A teaching load is associated with this position.
About You
The successful applicant will demonstrate:

Current Queensland College of Teachers registration.

Proven experience coordinating and leading school sport programs.

Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop, mentor and inspire staff and coaches.

Excellent organisational, communication and relationship-building abilities.

A commitment to student growth, participation and wellbeing.

An understanding of, and willingness to support, the Anglican ethos of the School.
