We are a well-established wine importer and distributor supplying premium wines across Australia. Due to continued growth, we are seeking a hands-on WHS Adviser to support the safe and efficient operation of our warehouse and distribution activities.
About the Role
This new role will be responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring Work Health & Safety (WHS) systems. The position plays a key role in ensuring compliance with Australian WHS legislation, promoting a safety-first culture, and supporting operational efficiency across warehouse, logistics and office operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement and review WHS policies, procedures and safe work practices
- Ensure compliance with Australian WHS legislation, regulations and relevant codes of practice
- Conduct regular workplace inspections, risk assessments and hazard identification
- Develop and maintain SWMS, JSAs and other risk control documentation
- Maintain WHS records including incident, injury and hazard registers
- Lead incident and near-miss investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Provide WHS advice and guidance to management and warehouse staff
- Coordinate WHS inductions and training (manual handling, PPE, emergency procedures, chemical safety)
- Monitor PPE compliance and safe work practices
- Prepare WHS reports, statistics and recommendations for management
- Support consultation processes and promote a positive safety culture
- Monitor changes to WHS legislation and recommend updates to company practices
- Support injury management and return-to-work processes
- Maintain emergency procedures, evacuation plans and safety signage
- Provide WHS guidance to employees involved in receiving, storing, handling and dispatching wine products.
- Support safe handling practices for glass bottled products, pallets and cartons.
- Advise on manual handling risks, warehouse housekeeping, storage methods and equipment use.
- Assist management in implementing operational procedures where they relate to safety, risk reduction and compliance.
- Work with internal teams and logistics providers to support safe and compliant distribution activities.
About the Candidate
- Previous experience in a WHS role within warehouse, logistics or distribution environment
- Experience working in warehouse operations
- Knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and compliance requirements
- Experience handling wine or beverage products highly regarded
- Strong understanding of manual handling and warehouse safety risks
- Hands-on and proactive approach
- Strong communication and consultation skills
- Ability to influence safe work behaviours across teams
- Strong organisational and analytical skills
Essential Qualifications
- Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety (or equivalent)
Desirable Qualifications
- Diploma in Work Health & Safety
- Forklift Licence (LF)
- First Aid Certificate
- Experience in wine or beverage distribution
Pay: $82,500.00 per year
