We are seeking an experienced **Finance Manager** to oversee financial operations for our Australian agricultural and agribusiness interests, with a strong focus on cross-border activities linked to farming operations across **Mozambique, South Africa, and the wider Southern Africa region**.
The successful candidate will manage budgeting, reporting, cash flow, compliance, and financial strategy while travelling regularly between Australia and key farming locations in Southern Africa.
**Essential:** The candidate must have a strong ability to understand and work effectively within both the **South African and Mozambican environments** — including commercial farming systems, rural logistics, local business practices, regulatory contexts, cultural and operational realities, and on-the-ground conditions specific to each country.
Afrikaans fluency is required for effective communication with key stakeholders, farm managers, suppliers, and partners throughout the Southern African agricultural network.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, and financial analysis for Australian and Southern Africa-linked agricultural operations (with particular focus on Mozambique and South Africa).
- Oversee cash flow, working capital, cost control, and profitability across farming, logistics, and trading activities in the region.
- Ensure compliance with Australian financial regulations, tax requirements, and international reporting standards; support financial processes across Mozambican, South African, and other Southern African operations.
- Travel regularly to farm sites in Mozambique, South Africa, and other Southern African countries to review on-the-ground financial performance, inventory, operational costs, and risk factors specific to the local farming and business environments.
- Prepare accurate financial models and business cases that reflect real-world conditions in both the South African and Mozambican environments (seasonality, weather impact, input costs, labour, transport, market access, regulatory differences, and operational realities unique to each country).
- Manage relationships with banks, auditors, insurers, and key commercial partners in Australia and across Southern Africa.
- Provide clear financial insights and recommendations to senior management in Afrikaans and English.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements suited to remote and rural farming operations in South Africa and Mozambique.
- Support visa and immigration processes as required for ongoing travel and work arrangements.
Pay: $80,000.00 per year
