What you’ll do
As a Kidswear Designer at BIG W, you will bring our customer offer to life by developing trend-relevant, value-driven, and high-volume product ranges. Blending data insights with global trend analysis, you will shape the creative direction and partner with cross-functional teams to guide collections from initial concept through to successful production, ensuring every garment aligns with our strategic goals and delights our customers.
Design & Development: Translate emerging trends into commercial designs, managing the end-to-end creative process including detailed CADs, tech packs, and visual range boards on Miro.
Data-Driven Ranging: Leverage customer insights, sales performance data, and market research to inform product choices, optimise range architecture, and drive commercial success.
Value Engineering: Engineer garments to meet target costs through strategic fabric consolidation and smart design levers, balancing affordability with strict quality, safety, and fit standards.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Planning, Sourcing, Marketing, and Fit & Quality teams to co-create product strategy, resolve production issues, and deliver impactful Go-To-Market and VM campaigns.
Critical Path & Leadership: Manage seasonal workflows to hit all critical path milestones efficiently, proactively driving continuous process improvements and potentially coaching junior team members while continuously identifying ways to optimise business efficiency.
What you’ll bring
Formal qualification in Design / Product Design
Experienced Designer with 5+ years in a mid-high volume retail business with proven ability to design for a wide range of medium complexity of options.
Transferable skills across areas of design, with ability to adapt across product types.
Previous experience working with multiple stakeholders across a broad skill base.
Demonstrate strong presentation, written and verbal communication skills, with high attention to detail
