About Us
Onyx Gymnastics is one of Sydney's fastest growing gymnastics clubs, operating from our Mosman headquarters and Shore School in North Sydney. We deliver high quality KinderGym, recreational, competitive and holiday programs to hundreds of families across the Lower North Shore.
As our club continues to grow, we are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Sports Development Officer to help expand our participation programs, strengthen athlete development pathways and support the continued growth of the business.
About the Role
This is a varied role combining program development, coach mentoring, community engagement and athlete development. Working closely with the Directors and Head Coaches, you will be responsible for improving the quality of our programs while helping increase participation and retention across all age groups.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategies to grow participation in gymnastics programs.
- Design and review athlete development pathways from recreational to competitive gymnastics.
- Support the planning and delivery of coach education and mentoring initiatives.
- Evaluate existing programs and recommend improvements to increase participation and athlete progression.
- Build relationships with schools, community organisations and sporting partners.
- Assist with planning and delivering school programs, holiday camps, workshops and community events.
- Analyse participation data and prepare reports on program performance and development opportunities.
- Support the implementation of new programs that align with the club's strategic objectives.
- Assist in promoting gymnastics participation within the local community.
- Work collaboratively with coaching staff to ensure high quality program delivery.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Qualification in Sport Development, Physical Education, Sports Management or a related discipline.
- Experience working within a sporting organisation, club or participation program.
- Strong understanding of athlete development pathways.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with coaches, athletes and families.
- Experience developing or evaluating sports participation programs.
- A current Working With Children Check (or ability to obtain one).
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
Experience in gymnastics is highly regarded, however applicants from other sporting backgrounds with sports development experience are encouraged to apply.
