The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for identifying, qualifying and converting new business opportunities that drive sustainable revenue growth for Cora Group. The role is focused on disciplined pipeline generation, discovery-led selling and strategic relationship development across target customer segments seeking integrated 4PL solutions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Building a quality pipeline
- Develop and maintain a balanced short, medium and long-term pipeline aligned to growth targets
- Ensure pipeline quality through disciplined qualification standards
- Maintain minimum pipeline coverage ratios
- Prioritise opportunities aligned to Cora’s strategic customer profile
Smart Prospecting
- Proactively generate opportunities through outbound activity, referrals and industry networks
- Apply structured prospect selection to avoid low-fit opportunities
- Tailor outreach based on industry and customer maturity
- Refine prospecting approaches using performance data
Discovery-Led Selling
- Lead structured discovery sessions to understand customer objectives and constraints
- Assess strategic fit, commercial viability and delivery complexity
- Position solutions based on outcomes rather than features
- Support negotiations in line with governance frameworks
Market Insight
- Maintain strong understanding of logistics and supply chain trends
- Monitor competitor activity and emerging service models
- Identify new industries and growth opportunities
- Provide market intelligence feedback to leadership
Partnership Development
- Identify and develop strategic partnerships
- Build relationships with complementary service providers
- Evaluate partnership opportunities for mutual value
- Support partnership go-to-market approaches
Internal Collaboration
- Collaborate with Customer Solutions, Customer Experience and Operations teams
- Clearly articulate customer requirements during solution design
- Support internal handover and onboarding processes
- Balance customer advocacy with operational realities
CRM & Data Management
- Maintain accurate CRM records for all sales activity
- Ensure opportunities are staged correctly
- Use CRM insights to manage pipeline health
- Contribute to forecasting and reporting
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Demonstrated ability to generate and convert new business opportunities
- Strong prospecting capability with a “hunter” mindset
- Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills
- High commercial acumen with the ability to identify value drivers
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills across executive and operational levels
- Proficiency in CRM platforms and Microsoft Office suite
- Strong organisational and time management capability
- Self-motivated and results-driven with high professional integrity
- Comfortable operating in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in business development, sales or account growth roles
- Experience within logistics, transport, 3PL or 4PL environments highly regarded
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain or related discipline preferred
- Proven track record of achieving or exceeding new business targets
- Experience supply chains or related fields is advantageous
