The NSW General and Acute Care Medicine Advanced Training Program offers a coordinated approach to training that brings together the health system, hospitals, the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) and experienced doctors to ensure that the on-the-job training available in NSW is amongst the best on offer in Australia.
The breadth of opportunities available in metropolitan, regional and rural centres will shape your development and learnings, provide experience with local communities and support your progression through the RACP training requirements. The facilities listed will be offering a length of training contracts of two years (or remaining period of training):

What you'll be doing
Please note: You must be a member of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) to be eligible for an Advanced Trainee position in General and Acute Care Medicine.
The purpose of the position is to provide a high standard of clinical care to patients under supervision, while developing expertise in the practice of General and Acute Care Medicine, whilst fulfilling the requirement of the RACP for Advanced Training in General and Acute Care Medicine. You will be providing effective clinical management of patients, under appropriate supervision, including patient assessment, making treatment decisions, performing procedures and maintaining adequate medical records; and developing expertise in medical practice, in a complex clinical environment. This includes supervised general medical management of patients admitted to specialist departments. The position is suitable for:

Doctors who are currently in a Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) accredited advanced training program, and;

Doctors who are eligible to apply for Advanced Training in General and Acute Care Medicine and are members of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.

MBBS or equivalent, currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia.

Eligible for Advanced Training in General and Acute Care Medicine, RACP by successful completion of both written and clinical examinations.

Demonstrated teamwork, time management and problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary clinical team.

Demonstrated competency in clinical skills including effective assessment, care planning, care provision, case management and management of unstable patients.

Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment using excellent clinical skills (at the required level of competency) and judgement and expertise.

Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) with patients, their families, and medical and other health professional staff.

Demonstrated commitment to General Medicine Advanced Training program. Applicants with a clear stated interest in General Medicine or Dual Training or who are already in an Advanced Trainee position in General Medicine should state this.

Demonstrated commitment to education, research and teaching.
