Our Recruitment area is seeking to establish a pool of Senior Recruitment Officers for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during 2026 and up to the end of June 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
The Staffing Services Directorate is responsible for addressing the workforce needs of schools and central and regional services within the Department and comprises Recruitment, Workforce Supply, Mobility and Reform, International Recruitment, School Staffing Support, and Housing and Transport teams. The Recruitment is a large team of over 60 members organised into seven client-oriented portfolios. This team supports more than 800 work sites in the recruitment and appointment of qualified staff, managing over 20,000 staff movements each year. By collaborating with school principals and line managers, we aim to find the best candidates for their organisations while providing top-quality, client-focused, and compliant recruitment guidance to ensure successful outcomes.
Senior Recruitment Officer roles may be in any of the teams across our branch which support WA public schools, Department of Education central and regional offices, and applicants.

The Role
As a Senior Recruitment Officer, you’ll join a supportive team working in a fast-paced environment, supporting Western Australian public-school Principals and Department line managers by facilitating the recruitment and appointment of staff. Your primary responsibility will be to deliver a customer-focused service that aids line managers in implementing best practices for recruitment, selection, and appointment processes. You will also provide guidance on quality assurance and compliance matters, by offering expert advice and support to both internal and external clients. You will effectively research and resolve challenges, delivering innovative and compliant solutions to various recruitment issues.
Collaboration will be key as you work alongside other Senior Recruitment Officers and Recruitment Officers to ensure that all services provided to clients are clear, concise, and aligned with relevant Departmental policies, Awards, and Agreements. You will play a vital role in training and supporting the Recruitment Officers, managing workload and helping them with the administration and facilitation of recruitment practices that support both line managers, selection panels and applicants.
In addition to fostering a positive work environment, you will actively encourage continuous improvement by suggesting and implementing changes to existing practices, user guides, and online recruitment operations. Regular communication with the Recruitment Systems Support team will be essential to maintain accurate documentation of recruitment processes within the Department’s online system. With a focus on meeting individual and team goals, you will demonstrate a genuine desire to support others, effectively delegate daily tasks, and promote motivation through constructive and open communication within the team.
