About the Role
This role plays a key part in supporting accurate financial reporting, maintaining accurate accounting records, supporting statutory and tax compliance, management accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and business performance analysis across the organisation. Working closely with the Finance Manager, senior management, operations teams, and external accounting partners, you will help deliver timely financial insights that support commercial decision-making and continuous business improvement.

Key Responsibilities
- Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and management reports for senior management.
- Maintaining accurate general ledger accounts, journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Managing month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Preparing and reviewing income, expenditure, cash flow and financial performance reports.
- Assisting with the preparation of budgets, forecasts and financial performance analysis.
- Examining operating costs and project-related income and expenditure to support business decision-making.
- Preparing and lodging, or assisting external advisers with, BAS, GST, payroll tax, income tax and other statutory compliance obligations.
- Liaising with external accountants, auditors, tax advisers, banks and other professional service providers.
- Reviewing and improving accounting systems, procedures and internal control processes.
- Ensuring compliance with Australian Accounting Standards, company policies and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Supporting payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable and project accounting functions where required.
- Assisting management with financial investigations, variance analysis and ad hoc financial reporting.
- Maintaining accurate financial records and advising on appropriate record-keeping requirements.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business, or a related discipline
- At least two years of relevant post-qualification accounting experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, or commercial analysis, preferably within a project-based, maintenance, construction, mining services, or similar operational environment
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, month-end processes, reconciliations, journals, and financial controls
- Experience preparing management reports, variance analysis, financial commentary, and performance insights
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial and operational data and translate findings into practical business recommendations
- Experience using accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Experience working with accounting systems and financial reporting platforms.
- High attention to detail, strong problem-solving ability, and a continuous improvement mindset
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with finance and non-finance stakeholders
- Ability to manage deadlines, prioritise tasks, and work in a fast-paced business environment
- A collaborative, accountable, and proactive approach to your work
Pay: $80,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year
