Byron Shire Council is seeking motivated and passionate Bush Regenerators to join our Open Spaces and Facilities team. Working across some of the Shire's most environmentally significant landscapes, you will play a key role in protecting and restoring native vegetation communities, improving biodiversity outcomes and supporting the implementation of Council's Biodiversity Conservation Strategy.

Note: We have 3x roles available, ONE permanent full time position and TWO term full time positions until August 2027.
As a Bush Regenerator, you will:
- Implement bush regeneration works in accordance with Bush Regeneration Action Plans and supervisor direction.
- Undertake vegetation management and environmental weed control using best-practice bush regeneration techniques.
- Assist with ecological restoration activities to support the recovery of native plant communities and habitats.
- Undertake site monitoring, maintain work records and contribute to monitoring reports and data collection.
- Assist in the preparation of Bush Regeneration Action Plans and implementation of Council's Biodiversity Conservation Strategy.
- Participate in community education and engagement activities that promote environmental stewardship.
- Work safely and collaboratively while contributing to a positive team culture and continuous improvement.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A relevant qualification in Bush Regeneration, Conservation and Ecosystem Management, Conservation Land Management or a related field.
- Experience applying bush regeneration and ecological restoration techniques, including herbicide use for environmental weed control and natural species recovery.
- The ability to identify native plant and animal species, as well as environmental and noxious weed species.
- Sound knowledge of ecological restoration principles and best-practice vegetation management.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A commitment to workplace health and safety and delivering quality outcomes for the community.
- A current Driver Licence, First Aid Certificate and accredited Chemical User Certificate.
Desirable: Knowledge of Byron Shire flora and fauna, Chainsaw Certificate, Traffic Control qualification (Yellow Card), and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- 1x full time permanent position (38 hours per week / 9 day fortnight)
- 2x full time, term positions until August 2027 (38 hours per week / 9 day fortnight)
- Salary and Conditions will be in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award with an appointment at a salary in the range of $1,190.06 to $1,378.87 per 38 hour week (dependent upon skills and experience)

Location: This position is based at Mullumbimby Depot; however Council can require you to work from other work sites as required for operational reasons.
