Jellis Craig Boroondara is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Financial Controller to lead the financial operations of our business and play a key role in shaping our future growth.
This opportunity is ideally suited to a finance professional with real estate industry experience who understands the unique complexities of sales trust accounting, rental trust accounting, commission structures, shareholder reporting and property management operations.
Reporting directly to the General Manager, this is a rare opportunity to join one of Melbourne's leading real estate businesses and take ownership of all aspects of finance across our sales, property management and trust accounting operations.
This is more than a traditional finance role. We are looking for a leader who can provide strategic financial guidance, improve systems and efficiencies, support shareholder decision-making, and lead a high-performing finance team through the next phase of our growth.
About the Role
As Financial Controller, you will oversee the complete financial stewardship of the business, including:
General accounting and financial management
Sales trust accounting compliance and oversight
Monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting
Budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management
Payroll, commissions and bonus administration
Shareholder reporting and distributions
Process improvement, automation and systems optimisation
Leadership of the finance team and offshore support resources
Risk management, compliance and audit preparation
You will work closely with the Board and Directors to provide financial insights that drive informed business decisions and sustainable profitability.
What We're Looking For
You are an experienced finance professional who combines strong technical expertise with commercial acumen and leadership capability.
Ideally, you will possess:
CPA or CA qualification
Minimum 5 years' experience in a senior finance leadership role
Strong experience across financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting
Demonstrated leadership of finance teams
Payroll and statutory compliance expertise
Experience presenting financial information to senior executives, boards or shareholders
Strong systems and process improvement capability
High levels of integrity, attention to detail and accountability
Highly Desirable
Previous real estate industry experience
Sales and/or rental trust accounting expertise
Experience with PropertyMe, Box + Dice or similar real estate platforms
Experience managing offshore or virtual assistant teams
Previous Financial Controller, Head of Finance or similar senior finance leadership experience
Candidates with real estate industry experience will be highly regarded. Given the specialist nature of trust accounting, commission structures and regulatory requirements, applicants with a background in real estate are strongly encouraged to apply.
