THE ROLE
The Senior Policy & Project Officer will contribute to strategic and complex policy and projects designed to improve and enhance the social services system.
Working as part of a team responsible for strengthening system settings, performance frameworks and accountability measures, this position has an important role in influencing system improvement.
Along with a thorough understanding of the organisational and service context, applicants should possess strong written skills, conceptual and analytical abilities, project management skills and be collaborative. They will be responsive to tasks, including the provision of responses in a timely manner, and will be required to contribute to a variety of work priorities within the System Insights and Improvement unit.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
- Provide authoritative advice and sound policy recommendations to internal and external stakeholders and prepare and present detailed reports, ministerial briefs, cabinet and agency submissions on complex matters.
- Develop policy initiatives that meet government and departmental objectives within resourcing, timeline and budget parameters.
- Contribute to the full life cycle of projects to meet departmental objectives including:
- Undertaking research, analysis and implementation of projects based on defined outcomes and outputs.
- Managing projects or sub-projects and being accountable for the successful delivery and completion of the projects/sub-projects within resourcing, timeline and budget parameters.
- Monitoring and evaluating projects to ensure departmental objectives are met.
