ABOUT THE BRANCH
The Communications Branch provides advice and support to ministers, the department and portfolio entities on the Government’s information and advertising framework, whole-of-government campaigns, and internal and external communications.
The Government Advertising Section provides policy advice to ministers and agencies, coordinates campaign delivery on high-profile whole-of-government campaigns and helps shape how government communicates with the public. It manages central advertising arrangements, oversees compliance with campaign guidelines, and works with agencies to ensure campaigns are effective, aligned to government priorities and deliver strong outcomes.
The Corporate Engagement Section delivers strategic communications for internal and external audiences. The section manages media functions and provides web services, including finance.gov.au, the intranet and ministerial websites. It also leads corporate events across the department.
The Web Services Team manages and improves Finance’s websites. The team provides content design, publishing, analytics and advice. It works closely with business areas to deliver clear, accessible and user-focused content, while driving innovation through process improvement and automation.
The Web Services team includes a director, manager, content designers and content administrators. It works closely with ICT developers and communication specialists across the department.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking an APS6 Content Designer to join the Web Services Team.
In this role, you will work with business areas to review, rewrite and build content across Finance websites. You will use evidence, analytics and user needs to improve content, support decision-making and deliver high-quality digital experiences.
You will also have opportunities to build your skills in content design, accessibility, analytics and modern digital tools, including emerging technologies.
To succeed in this role, you will have:

A strong understanding of web content design principles.

Experience writing for digital channels, including guidance material.

Experience applying best practice to publish web content using Drupal or a similar content management system.

Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.2 AA).

Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

A focus on service delivery and continuous improvement.

The ability to take ownership of your work and seek guidance when needed.
