As we continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced and passionate Service Leader to join our leadership team.
The Opportunity
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys being actively involved in service delivery while leading and developing a team.
As a Service Leader, you will oversee a portfolio of participants, properties, and support workers, ensuring services are delivered safely, effectively, and in line with participant goals, NDIS Practice Standards, and Milestone's values.
You will work closely with participants, families, support coordinators, allied health professionals, hospitals, justice agencies, guardians, and internal teams to ensure positive outcomes for the people we support.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys problem-solving, and has experience supporting participants with complex needs, behaviours of concern, and mental health presentations.
Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and support a team of Disability Support Workers.
- Conduct staff supervision, coaching, and performance management.
- Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and staff development.
- Promote a positive workplace culture focused on accountability, quality, and participant outcomes.
- Provide guidance and support to staff in complex situations.
Participant Supports & Clinical Oversight
- Ensure Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs), Risk Assessments, Mealtime Management Plans, and Support Plans are implemented effectively.
- Monitor participant wellbeing and identify emerging risks or changes in presentation.
- Support incident management, investigations, and follow-up actions.
- Work collaboratively with Behaviour Support Practitioners, Support Coordinators, Guardians, OTs, Psychologists, and other stakeholders.
- Support participants with psychosocial disabilities, intellectual disabilities, forensic backgrounds, and complex support needs.
Operational Management
- Manage rosters, staffing requirements, and workforce utilisation.
- Ensure services remain compliant with NDIS Practice Standards and Quality & Safeguards requirements.
- Monitor service delivery outcomes and participant satisfaction.
- Maintain accurate records, documentation, and compliance systems.
- Participate in audits, quality reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build strong relationships with participants, families, guardians, hospitals, support coordinators, allied health professionals, Housing providers, and justice-related services.
- Attend case conferences, stakeholder meetings, and participant reviews.
- Assist with gathering evidence for NDIS reviews, SIL assessments, and Change of Circumstances applications where required.
- Work collaboratively to identify and resolve participant risks, barriers, and support needs.
About You
You are a natural leader who genuinely cares about both participants and staff. You understand that quality supports come from strong leadership, clear communication, and a team that feels supported and empowered.
You remain calm under pressure, can confidently manage competing priorities, and are comfortable working in complex environments where no two days are the same.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a leadership role within disability, mental health, community services, healthcare, or a related sector.
- Strong understanding of NDIS Practice Standards and Quality & Safeguards requirements.
- Experience supporting participants with complex behaviours, psychosocial disabilities, intellectual disabilities, and mental health presentations.
- Demonstrated experience implementing Behaviour Support Plans and Risk Assessments.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Current Working with Children Check.
- Current First Aid & CPR Certificate.
- Current Driver's Licence.
Desirable
- Diploma or Degree in Disability, Community Services, Social Work, Psychology, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, or a related field.
- Experience working with participants under Guardianship arrangements.
- Experience supporting participants transitioning from hospitals, correctional facilities, or homelessness.
- Positive Behaviour Support training.
- Knowledge of restrictive practice frameworks.
- Experience within SIL and SDA environments.
