About the Role
DMC Drafting & Design is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Draftsperson / Team Leader to join our growing team in Victoria.
This is a leadership role suited to a highly skilled draftsperson who is ready to take ownership of projects, mentor junior staff, and help drive the continued growth and success of our business. Working closely with management, you will oversee project documentation, provide technical guidance to team members, maintain quality standards, and ensure projects are delivered efficiently and accurately.
You will remain hands-on with drafting and documentation while also playing a key role in developing junior team members and improving internal processes.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery
- Manage projects from concept through to construction documentation and permit approval stages.
- Ensure all drawings comply with the National Construction Code (NCC), Australian Standards, and relevant council requirements.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, builders, surveyors, and local authorities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Conduct site measurements and assessments when required.
- Produce high-quality construction documentation, planning submissions, and working drawings across a diverse range of projects.
Leadership & Team Development
- Oversee and mentor junior drafting staff, providing technical support and guidance.
- Review and quality-check documentation prepared by team members.
- Help establish and maintain drafting standards, workflows, and best practices.
- Support management in workload allocation, project scheduling, and resource planning.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure all documentation meets DMC's professional standards for accuracy, clarity, and buildability.
- Identify and resolve technical issues before documentation is issued.
- Maintain consistency across project documentation and company drafting standards.

What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in the Australian building design and drafting industry
- Advanced Diploma of Building Design (Architectural) or equivalent qualification
- Advanced proficiency in Revit and Lumion with the ability to contribute immediately
- Strong knowledge of the NCC, Australian Standards, planning requirements, and residential construction methods
- Experience reviewing and coordinating documentation produced by other team members
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and communication skills
- Confidence working directly with clients, consultants, and local authorities
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality documentation
- Must be based in Australia
