About the Role
DMC Drafting & Design is seeking an experienced and motivated Draftsperson to join our growing team.
This role is ideal for someone with strong technical drafting skills who can confidently manage projects from concept through to construction documentation with minimal supervision. You'll work alongside our design and drafting team to deliver high-quality documentation across a diverse range of residential, commercial, industrial, and development projects.
Based in Melbourne, this position offers a hybrid working arrangement, providing flexibility while remaining connected to our collaborative team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed construction documentation, working drawings, and planning permit submissions.
- Produce accurate and compliant documentation in accordance with the National Construction Code (NCC), Australian Standards, and local council requirements.
- Manage projects through various stages of design and documentation.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, builders, surveyors, and authorities as required.
- Conduct site measurements and site inspections when necessary.
- Coordinate consultant information and integrate requirements into project documentation.
- Maintain high standards of drafting accuracy, presentation, and buildability.
- Work collaboratively with the wider DMC team to ensure projects are delivered on time and to a high standard.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in the Australian building design and drafting industry
- Advanced Diploma of Building Design (Architectural) or equivalent qualification
- Strong proficiency in Revit (Lumion experience greatly appreciated)
- Solid understanding of the NCC, Australian Standards, and Victorian planning requirements
- Experience preparing permit and construction documentation
- Ability to self manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Confidence liaising with clients and consultants
- High attention to detail and commitment to producing quality documentation
- Current Australian working rights
- Melbourne-based or willing to work within the Melbourne metropolitan area
