BUSHkids is a not-for-profit organisation that has been at the heart of transforming lives of regional children across Queensland for 90 years. Our highly dedicated teams and volunteers are all driven by a shared vision that all children should have access to free allied health services regardless of where they live.
As our Work Health and Safety Adviser at BUSHkids, you will be based at our Toowong office and play a key leadership role in fostering a culture of safety, wellbeing, and accountability across the organisation. Working closely with the Chief Executive Officer (PCBU) and leaders across BUSHkids, you will provide strategic and provide operational oversight of our WHS framework, ensuring compliance with legislative, governance, accreditation, and risk management requirements are met.
You will lead our organisational approach to WHS including risk management, incident reporting and investigation, continuous improvement initiatives, and the management of psychosocial and wellbeing risks. You will provide WHS input and assist in our Quality Management System change process to ensure effective integration of risk, incidence and compliance processes. You will also be responsible for line management of our Maintenance and Facilities Coordinator.

The position can be offered under a minimum 0.8FTE permanent part-time arrangement up to a full-time appointment.

About You
- Hold tertiary qualifications in Work Health & Safety (minimum Certificate IV) and ideally further professional training/development relevant to the position.
- Previous experience in a similar Work Health Safety advisory role, leading/managing WHS compliance, hazards, and risks in the workplace.
- High-level knowledge of WHS, including the WHS Act, WHS Regulations, statutory requirements, and relevant Codes of Practice.
- Prior experience with Quality Management Systems (QMS) such as Logicqc (highly desirable).
- Strong interpersonal communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Flexible and adaptable nature who can work independently whilst also maintaining a strong team-oriented mindset.
- Able to manage competing priorities effectively with a deadline driven approach.
- High attention to detail, accuracy and sound judgement in decision making.
- Proactive team player with a focus on collaboration and continuous improvement.

- Valid Blue Card and NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (or ability to obtain before commencement)
- Current C Class Drivers’ Licence
- Evidence of Hepatitis B vaccination status
