SCHOOL CANTEEN ASSISTANTS – FAST-PACED FOOD PREPARATION & SERVICE
Bizzee Breeze Canteens is seeking reliable and capable people to join our school canteen teams in the Baldivis area.
We have multiple casual positions available, generally working 2–4 set weekdays during WA school terms. Typical shifts are from 8:00am to 2:00pm.
An immediate start is available for the right candidates.
Please be aware: although this is a daytime school canteen position, it is a genuinely fast-paced and physical hospitality job. During busy service periods, our teams prepare, organise and pack a high volume of student orders within strict deadlines. You must be comfortable working quickly, staying organised and remaining calm under pressure.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Depending on the canteen and the day, duties may include:
- Preparing sandwiches, salads, hot food, snacks and other menu items
- Packing and checking student lunch orders accurately
- Working quickly during busy recess and lunch services
- Working effectively as part of a small team or independently when required
- Serving students and processing over-the-counter sales
- Receiving, rotating and putting away stock
- Cleaning benches, equipment, dishes and work areas
- Following food-safety, allergen and temperature-control procedures
- Completing opening, restocking and end-of-day cleaning tasks
ABOUT YOU
You will be a good fit if you:
- Are reliable, punctual and available on your agreed working days
- Work with urgency without sacrificing accuracy
- Can manage several tasks at once
- Remain calm and productive when the workload suddenly increases
- Can work efficiently in a small team or confidently by yourself
- Follow established recipes, systems and instructions
- Notice what needs doing and contribute without constantly being prompted
- Are physically able to spend most of the shift standing, moving and completing repetitive food-preparation and cleaning tasks
- Understand that cleaning and dishes are an essential part of every shift
Previous experience in a busy café, bakery, takeaway shop, fast-food restaurant, commercial kitchen, lunch bar or similar food-service environment will be highly regarded.
School canteen experience is welcome but not essential. We are more interested in proven reliability, pace, organisation and the ability to perform under pressure.
HOURS, PAY AND LOCATION
- Casual positions
- Approximately 2–4 set weekdays per week
- Typical shifts from 8:00am to 2:00pm
- Work is available during WA school terms
- Positions are located across our school canteens in the Baldivis area
- Work locations are assigned according to operational requirements
- Applicants must be able to reliably attend their assigned workplace
- Additional relief shifts may sometimes be available
- Pay is provided under the applicable Restaurant, Café and Catering Award
REQUIREMENTS
Successful applicants will need to:
- Hold or obtain a valid Working with Children Check
- Complete the required Department of Education screening
- Comply with food-safety and workplace procedures
- Arrive punctually for every rostered shift
