SBS Engineering is a well-established engineering and fabrication business based in Wangara. We are looking for an experienced and motivated Accounts Officer to join our team in a flexible role.
This is a varied and hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys taking ownership of accounts processes, thrives in a busy environment, and is willing to support the wider team when required.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions across multiple divisions of the business. This includes managing invoicing that may involve cross-divisional projects, requiring the ability to gather, review and analyse information from various sources to ensure customer invoices are accurate and complete.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Receivable
- Collate and analyse job, labour, materials and project information to determine accurate invoice amounts
- Prepare and issue customer invoices across multiple divisions of the business
- Manage invoicing for projects involving crossover between departments and business units
- Investigate and resolve invoice queries and discrepancies
- Follow up outstanding accounts and manage collections in a professional manner
- Reconcile customer accounts
Accounts Payable
- Process supplier invoices accurately and efficiently
- Prepare and process supplier payments
- Reconcile supplier statements
- Resolve supplier account queries and discrepancies
General Accounts & Administration
- Bank reconciliations
- Account reconciliations and reporting
- Assist with month-end procedures
- Maintain accurate financial records and documentation
- General accounts administration
- Support management with financial and administrative tasks as required
Team Support
We are a team-focused business and are looking for someone who is happy to step in and assist other areas when needed. This may include:
- Assisting with employee onboarding administration
- Providing payroll support during peak periods or staff leave
- Supporting other administrative functions as required
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience in an Accounts Officer, Accounts Administrator, Bookkeeper or similar role
- Strong Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable experience
- Proven experience preparing and issuing invoices
- The ability to gather, interpret and analyse information from multiple sources to accurately determine invoicing amounts
- Strong attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Confidence following up overdue accounts and resolving payment issues
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- A proactive approach and willingness to take ownership of tasks
- The ability to work autonomously while contributing positively to a team environment
- A willingness to assist in other administrative functions when required
Desirable
- Experience using QuickBooks
- Experience within engineering, manufacturing, construction, fabrication or trade-based industries
- Exposure to payroll and onboarding administration
