Are you passionate about uncovering stories and delivering news that matters? We are seeking a motivated Journalist to join our dynamic regional News Team in Canberra.
This is a great opportunity to work with Australian’s leading broadcast media organisation and propel your journalism career to new heights. Working and living regionally will equip you with invaluable skills, paving the way for amazing long-term success in the industry.
You will be responsible for gathering, editing and presenting compelling local news stories in a composed, accurate and engaging manner. This role requires roster flexibility, and some weekend work will be essential. A willingness to work extra hours when the news day demands is also important. Other key responsibilities include:
Developing and maintaining positive relationships with key people and organisations
Breaking stories and creating engaging content
Representing the Company in a professional and courteous manner
What will you need
You’ll be a driven and energetic Journalist, with the ability to think clearly and act quickly under pressure, possessing excellent communication skills to collaborate with different stakeholders internally, as well as externally with the local community. You’ll be able to work in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on tight deadlines.
You will have:
Recently graduated from a Journalism Course
A solid understanding of media law and ethics.
Competency in script writing in TV News format
Meticulous attention to detail with some experience in a newsroom
