Jane Hill is one of Australia's leading luxury bridal brands, renowned for classic design, exceptional craftsmanship and uncompromising quality. We are seeking an experienced Bridal Sample Machinist & Alterations Specialist to join our Product Development team.
This is a hands-on role suited to a highly skilled bridal machinist who enjoys creating beautiful garments, solving construction challenges and delivering an exceptional standard of workmanship.
About the Role
Working closely with our Pattern Makers, Product Development, Quality Control and Retail teams, you will be responsible for constructing bridal samples, completing customer alterations and supporting quality control repairs to ensure every gown meets the Jane Hill standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Construct high-quality bridal sample gowns from first patterns through to completed garments.
- Interpret patterns, specifications and construction notes accurately.
- Identify potential pattern or construction issues and collaborate with Pattern Makers to develop practical solutions before garments move into production.
- Complete customer alterations to an exceptional standard while meeting required appointment and delivery timeframes.
- Carry out quality control repairs efficiently to ensure customer shipping and fitting deadlines are achieved.
- Perform hand finishing, pressing and final garment preparation to luxury bridal standards.
- Assist with customer fittings when required and provide technical advice regarding alteration options.
- Recommend construction and sewing improvements that enhance garment quality
- Assist with cutting sample garments and preparing work for construction.
- Maintain an organised, clean and safe work environment.
- Contribute positively to team planning and workload management to ensure project deadlines are met.
Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Extensive bridal machining experience (10+ years preferred)
- Extensive knowledge of bridal garment construction and luxury sewing techniques.
- Experience working with a wide range of bridal fabrics including satin, mikado, taffeta, lace, tulle, crepe and heavily beaded fabrics.
- A strong understanding of garment patterns, fit and construction, with the ability to recognise potential pattern issues before production.
- Excellent hand sewing and finishing skills.
- Proven experience completing bridal alterations to a premium standard.
- The ability to work efficiently without compromising quality.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently meet deadlines.
