Zookeeper / Wildlife Presenter (Full Time)

Full Time Hourly Rate: $25–$32 per hour (dependent on experience)

Warrawong Wildlife Sanctuary is entering an exciting new chapter, and we're looking for two experienced full-time Zookeeper/Wildlife Presenters to join our team.
With our brand-new overnight school camp accommodation nearing completion and school camp bookings already secured, we're expanding our team to meet the increasing demand for educational experiences.
Hours
There are two full-time positions available.
Both positions include working every weekend.
As we continue to expand our visitor experiences, flexibility is essential.
The successful applicant will be required to participate in our popular Dusk Tours and other evening experiences, so regular weekend, public holiday and occasional night work will form part of this role.
About the Role
We're looking for mature, autonomous, and enthusiastic zookeepers who thrive in a fast-paced environment and who genuinely enjoy engaging with people.
With our overnight school camp program expanding rapidly, working with children and school groups will be a significant part of this role.
You must genuinely enjoy working with children and be confident, patient, and enthusiastic when engaging with students of all ages.
Public presentations and private animal encounters make up a significant part of this position, so confidence in speaking to groups and creating memorable visitor experiences is essential.

Alongside presentations, you'll also be responsible for:
- Animal husbandry and daily care
- Animal training and enrichment
- Habitat and landscape maintenance
- Assisting with educational programs and overnight school camps
- Delivering exceptional visitor experiences
- You'll work with an incredible collection of Australian wildlife including Dingoes, Raptors, Snakes, Lizards, Possums, Birds and many more.
Essential Requirements
Applicants should demonstrate:
- Experience in the animal husbandry
- Experience working with Australian native wildlife
- Certificate III in Captive Animals (or equivalent), or currently working towards it
- Excellent presentation and public speaking skills
- Outstanding customer service
- Strong work ethic and initiative
- Ability to work independently and within a small team
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Current driver's licence
- Willingness to work weekends, public holidays and evening Dusk Tours
- A good level of physical fitness

Pay: $52,880.00 – $70,505.02 per year
Work Location: In person
