About the role
Based initially at our Hazelmere Workshop, you’ll work alongside our experienced tradespeople to develop the practical skills and technical knowledge required for a successful career in heavy mobile plant and equipment maintenance.
Our Plant team is responsible for the maintenance and servicing of Georgiou’s plant and equipment, supporting the safe and reliable operation of our projects across Australia.
Throughout your apprenticeship, you’ll gain hands-on experience assisting with the servicing, repair and maintenance of earthmoving equipment, light vehicles and other plant and equipment.
Our structured four-year program is designed to progressively broaden your experience:
- Year 1 – based at our Hazelmere Workshop, rotating through different repair and maintenance areas and building your core trade skills.
- Year 2 – continue developing your workshop experience, with opportunities for short-term exposure to site-based work.
- Years 3 and 4 – broaden your experience across Field Service and site-based teams, along with exposure to component rebuilds within our workshop.
By the end of your apprenticeship, you’ll have developed experience across a range of environments and equipment while completing your Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology.
Your skills and experience
To be considered for this apprenticeship, you will ideally have:
- Successful completion of Year 12, together with pre-apprenticeship training or relevant work experience within the mechanical or heavy equipment field.
- A genuine interest in building a long-term career as a Heavy Duty Plant Mechanic.
- A strong commitment to safety and willingness to learn safe work practices.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A reliable and motivated approach to work.
- The ability to follow instructions and complete tasks as directed.
- Basic computer skills.
- The ability to make your own daily travel arrangements to our Hazelmere Workshop.
- A current First Aid Certificate would be advantageous but is not essential.
