We deliver a wide range of sport, fitness, and wellness programs across Victoria University’s Sport & Health Centres, supporting students, staff, and the broader community to achieve their health and wellbeing goals.
At our Footscray Park campus, we operate a full Aquatic and Fitness Centre, featuring a swimming pool, gym, and group exercise studios. Our Werribee and St Albans sites also provide gym facilities and fitness programs for the university and local community.
We are currently seeking reliable, energetic, and professional Casual Gym Instructors to join our dynamic team at our Footscray Park location.
About the Role
As a Gym Instructor, you’ll play a vital role in creating a welcoming, inclusive, and motivating environment for all members. You’ll work with a diverse range of clients of varying ages, backgrounds, and fitness levels to help them achieve their personal goals and build healthy habits.
We are currently seeking someone who is available to work approximately 15 hours per week, including regular weekend shifts (8:00 am – 3:00 pm) and Thursday evening shifts (4:00 pm - 9:00pm). Applicants who can consistently commit to these hours will be highly regarded.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct health and fitness assessments and write personalised exercise programs.
Deliver engaging individual and small group Personal Training sessions.
Promote VU Sport programs, services, and membership opportunities.
Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming training environment by completing daily cleaning checklists.
Support day-to-day operations, including administration and customer service.
Selection Criteria
Essential
Certificate III & IV in Fitness or equivalent qualification (e.g. Bachelor of Sport Science, Exercise Science, or Clinical Practice highly regarded).
Fitness registration (e.g. AUSactive) or willingness to obtain within 3 months.
Current First Aid and CPR certification.
Current Working with Children Check (WWCC).
Desirable
Demonstrated experience in coaching or personal training.
Experience delivering group training classes.
Proven background in customer service or member engagement.
Previous experience working in a leisure, recreation, or fitness centre environment.
