Key Responsibilities
- Provide person-centred support in accordance with the client's individualised care plan.
- Assist with daily living activities, personal care, household tasks, and community participation as required.
- Provide appropriate support with mobility, positioning, and physical activities while considering the client's EDS and physical limitations.
- Monitor for symptoms associated with POTS, including dizziness, increased heart rate, fatigue, weakness, and feeling unwell when standing.
- Follow the client's established POTS management and escalation plan.
- Encourage appropriate hydration and follow dietary or fluid/salt recommendations outlined by the treating healthcare team.
- Support the use of prescribed compression garments where required and within the worker's role.
- Help the client avoid or manage triggers such as prolonged standing and excessive heat, in accordance with their care plan.
- Provide appropriate sensory, communication, and emotional support related to autism.
- Maintain a predictable, respectful, and supportive environment.
- Support the client with community access, social activities, appointments, and other meaningful activities.
- Encourage independence while providing assistance when symptoms affect daily functioning.
- Monitor and report changes in physical health, behaviour, mood, mobility, or general wellbeing.
- Maintain accurate daily progress notes, incident reports, and relevant care documentation.
- Communicate effectively with the client, family, healthcare professionals, and wider support team.
- Follow all workplace health and safety, manual-handling, infection-control, and emergency procedures.
- Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in disability, community care, aged care, or similar support environments.Personal AttributesThe ideal candidate will be patient, empathetic, observant, reliable, flexible, and respectful, with the ability to build trust and provide consistent support. They should respect the client's autonomy, communication style, sensory needs, and personal boundaries.

- Experience supporting autistic individuals is highly desirable.
- Understanding of person-centred and neurodiversity-affirming support.
- Ability to follow individualised health and support plans.
- Strong observation and communication skills.
- Patient, calm, reliable, and respectful approach.
- Ability to recognise changes in health and escalate concerns appropriately.
- Understanding of safe mobility and manual-handling practices.
- Relevant qualifications and required disability-sector clearances.
Pay: $36.10 – $40.10 per hour
