POSITION PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE

To provide efficient warehouse, stores and distribution services that support Council
operations through the receival, storage, issue and delivery of materials, equipment and
consumables.

The position is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records within OneCouncil,
assisting with stock control activities and ensuring warehouse operations are undertaken
safely and efficiently.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Contribute to help Council deliver its sustainability goals.
Receive and accurately record the receipt of goods from suppliers either over the

counter or off delivery vehicle as appropriate. This includes checking quantities
received against the delivery docket, determining the stock item number where
appropriate, labelling and storing materials in the correct location in a neat and tidy
manner.

Inform the responsible employee of receipt of their direct charge goods. Provide a

delivery service to internal and external customers as requested and as resources
permit.

Utilise Council’s warehouse fleet for the collection and delivery of bulky items.
Carry out warehouse cleaning & maintenance as required and assist with the

relocation of inventory lines as directed.

Participate in and/or conduct stocktakes as per corporate process and requirements.
Be proficient in the use of the inventory and purchasing modules of OneCouncil
Be conversant with Council’s online requisition system.
Assist Council’s purchasing team as required.
Prepare any goods for return to suppliers as required.
Demonstrate a commitment to customer service through the interpretation of customer

requirements and the provision of professional advice on the availability of inventory
line items.

Deal directly with customers over the counter and issue inventory items as required,

ensuring correct authorisation is provided. Issue direct charge items to appropriately
authorised employees.

Operate forklifts and warehouse equipment safely.
Load and unload vehicles and deliveries.

Workplace Health & Safety

Ensure compliance with WHS obligations and responsibilities as outlined in Councils
policies and procedures and under the relevant WHS legislation. These include but are
not limited to: identifying potentially unsafe situations or work practices and notifying your
Supervisor or Manager (or the Health, Safety Manager/Area Safety Representative);
never performing a task that you believe is dangerous or for which you do not have the

experience, or have not received appropriate instructions and training or where the correct
equipment to carry out the task safely is not available; always work in a safe manner and
in accordance with safety instructions, where applicable; use the work equipment supplied
for the job, in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions), and any personal
protective equipment, which the Council deems necessary and has provided; be safety
aware and report any actions to your line manager which will assist the Council to meet
its legal workplace health and safety obligations.

at all times to comply with Councils Asbestos Management Plan and Policy.

Compliance & Risk

You will support the team to meet risk management responsibilities under Council’s
Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Policy and Procedure by identifying and reporting
potential issues in a timely manner.

COMMUNICATION

The position will require communication with both internal and external customers to
ensure that warehouse and distribution requirements of the organisation are met. The
ability to interpret internal customer needs and issue or order appropriate items is
essential.

JUDGEMENT & PROBLEM SOLVING

The ability to use sound judgement is an important component of this position in order to
ensure that customers receive materials that suit their requirements. Some problem
solving may be required in meeting urgent requirements for materials.

AUTHORITY

• Authorised to issue inventory and direct charge items to appropriately authorised staff.

Authorised to create Purchase Orders from Council’s online requisition system.
Responsible for supervision of staff in the absence of Warehouse Supervision.

SKILL, EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS & BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES

ESSENTIAL

The ability to work under pressure, demonstrate initiative and be self-motivated.
Positive, courteous approach to dealing with customers.
Understanding and commitment to the principles of Equal Employment Opportunity

and Work Health and Safety.

Hold current MR driver’s licence.
Demonstrated ability to participate in a team based area.
Hold a current High Risk Work Licence - Forklift.
Purchasing and warehouse experience in a Local Government environment.
Experience in the organistations OneCouncil/Warehouse/Inventory and Purchasing

System

DESIRABLE

Undertaking or having undertaken a certificate course in Inventory Management.
Understanding of Dangerous Goods Storage.
Hold First Aid Certificate.
