How You’ll Make an Impact
As a Disability Support Worker with One Doorway, you will join a dedicated team of carers who provide person-centred support to people with disabilities in their own homes.
A day in the life as a Disability Support Worker with One Doorway may include:
- Supporting participants to work towards their goals in alignment with their NDIS plan, with a strong focus on safety, dignity, and individual outcomes
- Providing in-home support with health requirements, personal care, and daily living tasks in line with participant needs and Care Team support plans
- Delivering person-centred care and support based on individual needs and support plans. Including the delivery of activities that build capacity and develop skills across physical, social, emotional, and intellectual domains
- Completing accurate progress notes and documentation after each shift.
- Working respectfully alongside families, health professionals and internal care teams to achieve great outcomes while developing and maintaining positive relationships with all stakeholders.
Where required, provide:
- Behavioural and Mental Health Support
- Assistance with medication administration
- Expertise working with a range of Disabilities
As a Support Worker, you will ideally have experience within the disability and/or healthcare sectors. You will also demonstrate the following:
- A strong commitment to the rights of people with disabilities to live safe, dignified, and meaningful lives
- A patient, compassionate, flexible, understanding, and supportive nature. With excellent listening skills and strong attention to detail, with a genuine desire to make a positive difference in people’s lives
- The ability to take responsibility, use initiative, and work effectively as part of a team
- Previous experience in a similar role, particularly working with individuals requiring trauma-based care, is highly desirable.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team
Desirable, however, not essential:
- Certificate III in Individual Support or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s licence with access to a comprehensively insured vehicle.
