About the role
The Clinical Haematology Service is a unified department across Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and The Royal Melbourne Hospital and is the largest haematology service in Australia.
As the Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) Donor Coordinator , you will coordinate all aspects of related and unrelated donor management, including identification, assessment, education, collection and transportation of donor products. Working closely with the BMT clinical team and referring units, you will support donor search strategies, timely decision-making and effective transplant planning for allogeneic stem cell transplantation and cellular therapies
Key Accountabilities
Coordinate all aspects of the identification, assessment and education of donors
Collection and transportation of products from related and unrelated donors referred by the Australian Bone Marrow Donor Registry (ABMDR) for the purpose of allogeneic stem cell transplantation or other cellular therapy product (CTP) treatments
Maintain communication of the progress of above activities with the clinical BMT team and with referring units where appropriate
Active participate in meeting with BMT service to discuss donor search strategies and outcomes to ensure timely decision making and transplant planning
About You
You will bring strong clinical laboratory expertise and experience supporting Bone Marrow Transplant services, together with:
Experience in Bone Marrow Transplantation and the ability to coordinate complex patients.
Advanced assessment, problem-solving, critical thinking and organisational skills.
Strong communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
