About the Opportunity
Abergeldie continues to grow across New South Wales, and we're looking for an experienced Health and Safety Manager to lead our New South Wales safety function.
Reporting to the Head of Safety, this role leads a team of Senior Advisors and Advisors supporting a diverse portfolio of major infrastructure projects across the State. Working closely with operational leaders, you'll drive safety performance, strengthen culture and ensure a consistent approach across the business.
This role involves regular travel across Sydney, Greater Sydney and regional New South Wales to support projects and maintain a strong on-site leadership presence.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading the delivery of the NSW safety strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives, client requirements and legislative obligations.
Providing leadership, coaching and development to the NSW safety team.
Driving continuous improvement in safety performance and culture across the NSW portfolio.
Maintaining a visible presence across projects to support leaders and ensure critical controls and safety systems are effectively implemented.
Leading significant incident investigations and ensuring learnings are embedded into operations.
Ensuring compliance with WHS legislation, ISO 45001, ISO 31000, OFSC requirements and client frameworks.
Building strong relationships with clients, regulators and other key stakeholders.
Collaborating with safety leaders across the broader business to maintain nationally aligned standards and practices.
What You'll Bring to the Team
We're looking for an experienced safety leader who combines strategic thinking with practical delivery in complex construction, infrastructure or utilities environments.
You'll bring:
Demonstrated experience in a senior safety leadership role with accountability for strategy, governance and performance across multiple projects or business units.
Relevant qualifications in Workplace Health and Safety or a related discipline.
Strong leadership capability with experience developing and leading high-performing safety teams.
A proven ability to influence operational leaders and drive meaningful safety outcomes.
Sound knowledge of WHS legislation, ISO 45001, OFSC requirements and assurance frameworks.
Experience leading complex incident investigations, with ICAM or similar investigation methodologies.
A track record of driving change, improving systems and strengthening safety culture across large and diverse workforces.
Experience within civil construction, infrastructure or utilities
