About the Opportunity
The City of Adelaide is home for more than 30,173 residents, and this number is expected to grow to 50,000 in coming years. For both City residents and visitors, our Community Centres are safe and welcoming spaces that play an integral role in strengthening community connections, accessibility, diversity and inclusivity.
As part of the City Culture Program, the Coordinator, Community Development will build community capacity to support and strengthen thriving communities and neighbourhoods, with a focus on the southwest of the City of Adelaide.
The Coordinator, Community Development will deliver on the outcomes and requirements of the Department of Human Service’s Community Neighbourhood Development Funding Program. This includes facilitating services for a wide cross section of the South Australian community, with priority for those who are vulnerable, socially isolated and/or disadvantaged, and those experiencing family domestic violence and children and families at risk.
The Coordinator, Community Development:
Develops and implements an annual Action Plan and Community Needs Analysis.
Develops and maintains productive partnerships, networks and relationships with service providers, organisations, and individuals for the delivery of programs and services that respond to enduring and emerging community needs.
Fosters safe and inclusive spaces in City of Adelaide community centres that welcome individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds and brings communities together.
Coordinates a thriving volunteer program that engages and empowers individuals and strengthens community connections.
Designs and implements evaluation surveys and assessments to inform improvements to programs, services and processes.
With Council adopting a new Community Wellbeing Strategy in June 2026 and its inaugural Cultural Policy in June 2025, this is an exciting and pivotal time to join the City of Adelaide.

About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to apply strengths-based community development principles.
Experience in and sound understanding of tools and principles underpinning the development, implementation and evaluation of community programs and services.
Demonstrated planning and problem solving skills and the ability to develop strategic approaches to meet objectives.
Experience in networking, liaising, consulting and negotiating with a wide variety of people including staff, volunteers, customers and stakeholders.
Demonstrated customer service experience in community centres and community outreach programs or transferable to this context.
An unencumbered driver’s license.
