We are seeking a reliable and skilled General Labourer with strong hands-on building and construction experience. The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of general building practices, be confident using a wide range of hand and power tools, and be capable of completing tasks safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
The successful candidate will work closely with tradespeople, supervisors, and other site personnel to support construction and building activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with general building, construction, renovation, and maintenance works.
- Perform manual labour including lifting, carrying, loading, unloading, digging, demolition, and site preparation.
- Confidently use a variety of hand tools and power tools such as drills, grinders, saws, impact drivers, nail guns, and other construction equipment.
- Assist tradespeople and supervisors with day-to-day construction activities.
- Measure, cut, assemble, and install materials as required.
- Assist with framing, carpentry, plastering, concreting, landscaping, and other general building tasks.
- Read and understand basic building plans, measurements, and instructions.
- Set up and maintain work areas, tools, equipment, and materials.
- Load, unload, move, and organise construction materials around the worksite.
- Complete minor repairs, maintenance, and building tasks as required.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment.
- Follow instructions from supervisors and work effectively as part of a team.
- Follow all workplace health and safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Identify and report hazards, damaged tools, unsafe conditions, or other site issues.
- Complete tasks efficiently while maintaining a high standard of workmanship.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in building, construction, maintenance, or general labouring.
- Strong practical and hands-on building skills.
- Good knowledge of construction tools, materials, and equipment.
- Confident and competent using hand tools and power tools.
- Ability to accurately measure, cut, drill, fix, assemble, and install materials.
- Basic understanding of building methods and construction processes.
- Good physical fitness and ability to perform manual labour.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently when required.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
- Reliable, punctual, and hardworking.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to workplace health and safety.
Desirable
- Previous experience working on residential or commercial construction sites.
- Carpentry, concreting, framing, or general building experience.
- Construction White Card.
- Relevant trade qualification or practical trade experience.
- Current driver's licence.
- Ability to read basic plans and take accurate measurements.
- Experience operating construction equipment or machinery.
Pay: $30.00 – $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
