Primary objective
To deliver and maintain vital assets that enable safe, reliable, and effective dental care services across the Central Australia and Barkly
regions, under the direction of the Remote Services Manager.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Independently plan and undertake transport of the mobile dental truck and associated equipment to and from remote communities
across Central Australia and the Barkly
2. Assess road, weather, load, vehicle and site access conditions, determine whether travel can proceed safely, and adapt timing, route,
staging or method of travel in consultation with the Remote Services Manager, oral health staff and local contacts to maintain safety
and service continuity.
3. Independently position, level, stabilise, secure the dental truck at clinic and school sites, including assessing ground conditions and
access constraints, selecting a safe set up location, deploying stabilisers, refilling and draining water tanks, connecting and
disconnecting power, water and waste services, and establishing safe access arrangements for staff and patients.
4. Conduct pre-start, safety and roadworthiness inspections before travel and after arrival, and determine whether the vehicle is fit for
travel, escalating faults that may affect safety, compliance or service delivery.
5. Undertake first-line troubleshooting and basic maintenance in remote settings, assessing immediate risks and implementing practical
short-term controls to support service continuity.
6. Maintain operational records and liaise with clinicians, managers, school and clinic contacts, contractors, recovery providers and
community stakeholders regarding travel schedules, site access, delays, set up requirements and operational issues.
7. Use sound judgement and culturally respectful communication to negotiate practical solutions and keep services operating safely.

how tasks are performed, and adapt work methods to deal with non-routine problems while maintaining safety and service continuity.
4. Demonstrated experience in positioning, levelling, stabilising and securing a vehicle or mobile infrastructure at non-standard sites, and
connecting basic power, water and waste services safely.

and prompt fault reporting.
