We are currently seeking experienced and dedicated Disability Support Workers to join our growing team in Bendigo and surrounding areas.
This role is ideal for support workers who are passionate about supporting participants with complex support needs and who can build strong, professional relationships while maintaining a calm, respectful, and person-centred approach.
Our participants have diverse support requirements, and we are seeking staff with demonstrated experience supporting people with:
- Psychosocial disabilities and mental health challenges
- Acquired Brain Injuries (ABI)
- Complex behavioural support needs
- Trauma-related presentations
- Alcohol and other drug recovery journeys
- High-risk and complex environments
- Participants requiring structured supports to maintain community engagement and independence
As a Support Worker, you will play a critical role in supporting participants to achieve positive outcomes, build capacity, maintain safety, and work towards their individual goals.
About the Role
Your responsibilities may include:
- Providing person-centred support in participants' homes and communities
- Supporting participants to develop life skills, independence, and confidence
- Implementing Positive Behaviour Support Plans and risk management strategies
- Supporting participants to access community, education, employment, and recreational activities
- Assisting with personal care and daily living activities where required
- Building rapport and therapeutic relationships while maintaining professional boundaries
- Supporting participants through periods of distress using trauma-informed and recovery-oriented approaches
- Completing accurate documentation, incident reporting, and progress notes
- Working collaboratively with families, allied health professionals, support coordinators, and other stakeholders
What We Are Looking For
Successful applicants will demonstrate:
- Experience supporting people with complex support needs within disability, mental health, community services, justice, youth, homelessness, AOD, or related sectors
- A strong understanding of person-centred and trauma-informed practice
- Experience implementing Positive Behaviour Support strategies
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and de-escalation skills
- The ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
- Strong professional boundaries and decision-making skills
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including day, evening, weekend, public holiday, and sleepover shifts where required
- A genuine commitment to supporting participants to achieve their goals and maximise independence
Qualifications and Requirements
Desirable qualifications include:
- Certificate IV in Disability Support
- Certificate IV in Mental Health
- Certificate IV in Community Services
- Diploma of Community Services
- Relevant lived or professional experience within the sector
Applicants must hold or be willing to obtain:
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Current Working with Children Check
- Current National Police Check
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate
- Current Driver's Licence
- Reliable and registered motor vehicle
- Comprehensive motor vehicle insurance
