Male Disability Support Worker – Bendigo
Your Care Co is seeking an experienced and compassionate Male Support Worker to provide one-on-one support to an NDIS participant.
This position requires someone who has experience supporting individuals with alcohol and other drug (AOD) backgrounds, involvement with the justice system, and behaviours of concern. The successful applicant will be confident working within a trauma-informed, person-centred framework and able to build respectful relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.
About the role
As a Support Worker, you will:
- Provide person-centred support in the participant's home and community.
- Promote independence, choice and community participation.
- Implement support plans and behaviour support strategies.
- Complete accurate documentation using ShiftCare.
- Work collaboratively with the participant, family (where appropriate) and the wider support team.
- Be available for a combination of day, afternoon, evening, weekend and sleepover shifts.
Essential skills and experience
- Demonstrated experience supporting people with alcohol and other drug (AOD) backgrounds.
- Experience working with individuals who have had involvement with the justice system.
- Experience supporting people with behaviours of concern using positive behaviour support approaches.
- Ability to remain calm, professional and responsive in complex situations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of trauma-informed and recovery-oriented practice.
- Commitment to the NDIS Code of Conduct and person-centred supports.
Essential requirements
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Current National Police Check.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Current Driver Licence.
- Reliable motor vehicle with comprehensive insurance.
- Smartphone with the ability to use mobile care management systems.
- Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including weekends and sleepover shifts.
- Able to do Sleep-over shifts
