Join our Parks Technical Services Team as a Technical Officer - Sports Turf and Irrigation, where you'll play a key role in delivering the City of Moreton Bay’s annual sports turf maintenance program. This position is responsible for overseeing a diverse portfolio of sporting fields, ensuring they are maintained to high standards of quality, safety and playability. Working closely with contractors and internal stakeholders, you will provide technical expertise, coordinate program delivery and drive continuous improvement across Council’s sports turf assets.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the delivery of sports turf maintenance activities through contractor engagement and coordination, ensuring works are completed efficiently and to an acceptable standard
- Providing technical advice and support to monitor, investigate and maintain the safety, condition and performance of Council’s sports turf surfaces
- Reviewing, developing, and enhancing annual sports turf maintenance programs to support effective delivery, program integrity and value for money
- Assisting with the development of the annual budget, and preparing program initiation submissions, specifications, procedures and guidelines for sports turf maintenance, irrigation asset management, and renewal projects
- Undertaking procurement, contract and project administration activities related to the maintenance and renewal of the sports field network, including the use of Council systems (TechOne) to manage financial processes, procurement, asset data and project documentation
- Conducting and supporting operational activities in line with Council policies, procedures and compliance requirements
About you
With demonstrated solid experience working with sports turf and irrigation systems, you’ll have the practical knowledge needed to support the delivery of maintenance and renewal programs. You’re comfortable working across both operational and project environments and enjoy collaborating with others to achieve great results.
You’ll bring:
- Extensive experience in sports turf and irrigation maintenance, complemented by involvement in capital and operational projects.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues, contractors and stakeholders.
- The ability to work with consultants, designers, and contractors, contributing to the delivery of maintenance and renewal projects.
- A collaborative approach, with the ability to work as part of a team and contribute to a positive and supportive environment.
- Good time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities while meeting deadlines.
- The ability to work with technical information and systems to support project delivery and reporting (experience with TechOne is desirable)
You’ll also have:
- Certificate III in Sports Turf Management or a relevant qualification
- Current C Class driver’s licence
- Construction Induction Card
