The Queensland Parliamentary Service is seeking an Electorate Officer to support Mr David Kempton MP in delivering effective communication, community engagement and electorate services across the Cook electorate.
About the Role
Based in the Cook Electorate Office, you will lead the Member's media and communications activities while providing administrative and office management support. This role is central to ensuring constituents, stakeholders and the broader community are kept informed and engaged.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate and deliver all media and communications activities.
Prepare media releases, statements, newsletters and other communication materials.
Manage media enquiries and relationships with local, regional and state media.
Develop and maintain engaging website, social media and digital content.
Coordinate photography and video content for events and announcements.
Develop communication strategies and stakeholder messaging.
Monitor traditional and social media, reporting on emerging issues and community sentiment.
Support community engagement initiatives, meetings, events and local projects.
Conduct research and prepare briefing notes, correspondence and reports.
Provide high-level administrative, executive and office management support.
Manage reception and respond to enquiries by phone, email and in person.
Assist constituents seeking support and refer vulnerable individuals to appropriate services.
Maintain records, document management systems and compliance requirements.
Support financial administration, including expenditure tracking, reconciliations and acquittals.
Work collaboratively with parliamentary colleagues, community groups and government agencies.
What We're Looking For
Experience in media, communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, stakeholder engagement or a related field.
Strong writing and editing skills, with experience producing content for multiple audiences and platforms.
Demonstrated social media, digital communications, photography and video content experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong research and analytical abilities, with an interest in public policy and community issues.
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
Proven organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Experience in administration, office management or executive support.
Financial administration experience, including reconciliations and acquittals, is desirable.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, content management systems and social media platforms.
Ability to work effectively in a small team and meet deadlines.
