Registered Nurse (RN) – Clinical Governance & NDIS Compliance

Affective Care is a leading NDIS provider supporting people with disability and complex support needs to live safely, independently and with dignity. As our organisation continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to strengthen our clinical governance, compliance, and high intensity support capability.
This is a unique opportunity for an RN looking for flexible, project-based or ongoing casual work outside of a traditional nursing roster. You'll play a pivotal role in improving clinical quality, supporting our frontline teams, and ensuring we continue to deliver safe, person-centred services that meet the highest standards.
About the Role
Working closely with our leadership team, you will provide clinical expertise and oversight across the organisation, ensuring our documentation, training and clinical practices align with the NDIS Practice Standards and High Intensity Support requirements.
This role offers some flexibility in when you work, making it ideal for nurses seeking additional income, consulting opportunities, or work-life balance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, review and maintain individualised care plans and nursing care plans.
- Conduct comprehensive clinical and risk assessments and recommend appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
- Prepare and maintain emergency response plans and other clinical compliance documentation.
- Design and deliver training in High Intensity Support Skills, including: Enteral (PEG) feeding, Tracheostomy care, Subcutaneous injections, Complex bowel care, Epilepsy and seizure management, Urinary catheter care
- Assess staff competency and complete competency sign-offs in accordance with the NDIS High Intensity Support Skills Descriptors.
- Provide clinical guidance and support to support workers, team leaders and management.
- Contribute to incident reviews, clinical governance and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Assist with NDIS audits and ensure ongoing compliance with relevant legislation, standards and best practice.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Current unrestricted registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse.
- Experience working in disability, community health, aged care, complex care or clinical governance.
- Strong understanding of person-centred care, clinical risk management and evidence-based practice.
- Knowledge of the NDIS Practice Standards and High Intensity Support Skills Descriptors (or the ability to quickly develop this knowledge).
- Experience developing clinical documentation and delivering practical staff education.
- Excellent communication, organisational and report-writing skills.
- High attention to detail and a proactive approach to quality improvement.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain).
- Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain).
- Current Australian Driver Licence.
