Join our team as a Maintenance Inspector (Civil)

If so, we invite you to apply for the Maintenance Inspector (Civil & Marine Assets) position at Redland City Council.
This is a highly field‑based role where you will inspect and assess Council’s civil, open spaces and marine infrastructure across the city, including our Islands, helping ensure service levels are met and assets are safe, compliant and fit for purpose.
Your responsibilities will include:
Inspecting Council’s civil assets including roads, bridges, jetties and pontoons, footpaths, drains, stormwater infrastructure, lighting and vegetation
Undertaking inspections primarily in the field (approx. 90% field-based) via walking, e‑bike or vehicle
Completing inspections across all suburbs to meet programmed cycles and service level agreements
Identifying defects, assessing condition, and reporting findings remotely using electronic systems and mobile Apps
Conducting occasional night-time audits (e.g. lighting inspections)
Managing daily schedules, inspection programs and afternoon reporting
Accurately recording inspection outcomes and asset data in Assetic
Working collaboratively with the maintenance program under the direction of the Coordinator.
Skills and experience:
Experience in civil & marine maintenance or asset inspections (local government experience desirable)
Level 1 Bridge Inspector accreditation desirable (or willingness to undertake training)
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage time, schedules and inspection programs
Comfortable working independently in the field and using digital inspection tools and apps
Physical capability to walk, ride an e‑bike, and work outdoors in various environments
A current driver’s licence and willingness to travel within work hours as required (including island assets)

Eligibility:
- You'll hold a current C Class Driver's Licence.
- You'll hold a Certificate III in Civil Construction or Road Construction and Maintenance (or equivalent qualification), or significant relevant experience in a similar role and the ability to rapidly acquire a Certificate III in Civil Construction or Road Construction and Maintenance.
- You'll have a minimum 3 years experience in the relevant field
- You'll have the ability to participate in the after-hours on-call roster, including remote response and site-related operations
