About the Role
Yirara College is seeking a passionate and committed Secondary School Teacher to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to teach and support Aboriginal students from remote communities within a boarding school environment, delivering meaningful, culturally responsive education.
The role focuses on creating an inclusive, supportive classroom where students feel safe, respected, and empowered to learn. You will work closely with colleagues, boarding staff, families, and community to support both the academic progress and wellbeing of students, recognising the importance of cultural identity in education.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, deliver and assess engaging secondary curriculum aligned with NT requirements
- Provide culturally responsive teaching that supports Aboriginal students’ learning and identity
- Create a safe, inclusive and structured classroom environment
- Differentiate teaching to support students with diverse learning needs and backgrounds
- Support student wellbeing and positive behaviour using consistent and respectful approaches
- Build strong, respectful relationships with students, families and community
- Collaborate with boarding staff to support student learning beyond the classroom
- Contribute to whole-school programs, cultural activities and community events
- Maintain accurate records, assessment and reporting
About You
You are a flexible and culturally aware educator who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of young Aboriginal students from remote communities.
Skills & Experience
- Relevant teaching qualification and teacher registration (NT or ability to obtain)
- Experience teaching in a secondary setting (preferred)
- Demonstrated ability or willingness to work effectively with Aboriginal students and communities
- Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills
- Ability to deliver inclusive and engaging teaching programs
- Excellent communication, organisation and teamwork skills
- Commitment to student wellbeing and holistic education

Pay: $72,498.44 – $129,778.51 per year
