About The Role
As a Disability Support Worker, you will provide person-centred support that promotes independence, confidence, and community participation.
We are currently seeking a compassionate, reliable, calm, and proactive Male Disability Support Worker to join our Melbourne team. This is a casual position supporting a participant located in Clayton, with a strong focus on community access and building positive, consistent routines. This role would suit someone who enjoys working in the community, is physically active, and can build a professional, trusting relationship with the participant while providing safe and responsive support.
Shift Details
- Location: Clayton, VIC
- Employment Type: Casual
- Support Type: Community access
- Shift Length: Approximately 2 hour shifts
- Roster: Flexible rostering available, however applicants must be available to work regular 2 hour community access shifts between Monday and Saturday.
- Preferred Availability: Between 12:00pm and 05:00pm

Duties may Include (but not limited to)
- Providing one-to-one community access support.
- Supporting the participant to engage in meaningful community activities and social participation.
- Building positive routines while encouraging independence and confidence.
- Following individual support plans, behaviour support strategies, and risk management procedures.
- Responding calmly and safely to situations involving wandering or absconding behaviours, including safely monitoring, following, redirecting, and supporting the participant in accordance with their support plan.
- Assisting with personal care where required.
- Implementing mealtime management plans, medication administration procedures, and transfer guidelines where applicable.
- Accurately documenting observations and reporting changes or concerns to the care team.
- Attending training and working collaboratively with allied health professionals, behaviour support practitioners, and nursing staff.
- Using assistive technology, communication devices, and mobility aids where required.

About you
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience supporting people living with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
- Has experience supporting participants with complex behaviours.
- Understands Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) principles and proactive behaviour support strategies.
- Is calm, patient, resilient, and confident when responding to challenging situations.
- Is physically active and enjoys supporting community participation.
- Can safely respond to situations involving wandering or absconding behaviours by following support plans and safety procedures.
- Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Can build a professional, respectful, and trusting relationship with the participant.
- Is reliable and available to work regular short shifts across Monday to Saturday.
Essential Requirements
- Qualification in Individualised Support or similar.
- NDIS Worker Screening check required.
- Current Working with Children Check.
- Current First Aid.
- Current CPR Certificate.
- NDIS orientation and induction modules.
- Infection Control.
- Current PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) Training Certificate.
- Valid Australian Driver License.
- Comprehensive Vehicle Insurance.
- Must Have Right To Work In Australia.
- Reliable car.
