Why consider this casual opportunity?

You’ll be embedded in our client’s team (operator).
- Don't worry, you won't be dumped and forgotten. We will be checking in regularly during assignment.
- We'll try to get you some exposure to Mine Geology & Resource Modelling. Possibility to swap a swing or two with our other MEC Exploration Geologists (on an active near-mine exploration program happening concurrently).
- Potential to be considered for future roles (fixed term or perm) with MEC Mining.
What you’ll be doing

This assignment is for 5 – 6 months.
- FIFO 2 weeks on, 1 week off. (Includes 1 rostered day off during 2 weeks on site).
- Fly to departure location from your capital city, then a charter flight to site.
- Exploration geology and drill rig supervision.
- Geological logging of chips & core.
- Daily reporting of exploration progress & attend safety meetings.
- Other tasks to facilitate effective, safe and efficient exploration.
- Onsite with drilling crew, working closely with environmental team (water bore works).
Worth Being Upfront About
We can’t make guarantees, but contingent on performance (after completion of 6 months assignment) we’ll explore available fixed term / permanent opportunities.
There could of course also be other casual secondment opportunities.

What You’ll Bring

Tertiary level qualifications in Geology.
- A few years of experience in coal mining.
- Professional demeanour and ability to communicate / work well with others.
- Good attention to detail.
- Mining Standards 11 induction.
- Coal Board Medical (or we can arrange).
- Full unrestricted working rights in Australia.
