About our partnership:
Stride is proud to be delivering program provision with the Western Sydney area for the Parramatta Medicare Mental Health Centre. The Medicare Mental Health Centres, formerly Head to Health, are an important part of the Australia’s reformed mental health and wellbeing system.
The Medicare Mental Health Centre is supported by funding from Wentwest Primary Health Network through the Australian Government’s PHN Program. Parramatta Medicare Mental Health Centre provides the community with a free, safe and welcoming space to access mental health advice, supports and services through multidisciplinary approaches. Walk-ins will be welcomed, services are confidential, and no appointment or referral will be required.
About the service:
The services in Parramatta is funded by the Australian Government, to provide a streamlined approach to support better mental health and social wellbeing across the country. The service is tailored to the needs of the community in regional NSW and provides a combination of peer-led recovery and clinical support.
The Medicare Mental Health Centre provides a safe, welcoming and supportive environment for people experiencing psychological distress, providing an alternative to presenting to the Emergency Department for low risk individuals, and allowing them to access support from trained mental health professionals within their community, outside a clinical setting.

Role overview:
The purpose of this role is to provide tailored career development advice, guidance and coaching for people experiencing mental ill health or disabilities. In tandem with the Medicare Mental Health Centre team, the Vocational & Education Consultant will provide strengths based, psychosocial support to ensure that consumers achieve and maintain sustainable participation with their education and employment goals.
Requirements:

Minimum Certificate IV in Mental Health, Community Services, Career Development or a similarly related discipline

Experience or willingness to work within a multidisciplinary team to assist people with mental health needs or disabilities achieve their education and employment goals

Knowledge or experience in career counselling / career planning or employment related services within an individual or group setting

Knowledge of relevant legislations and local labour market trends
-
Experience or willingness to build key relationships with local employers and educational institutions to identify and advocate for job, study, and work experience opportunities for consumers

Sound knowledge and understanding of mental health disorders

Well-developed computer, technology and administration skills

Must be eligible to apply/currently hold a WWCC

Must hold/be willing to apply for a NDIS worker screening clearance

Must have a driver’s license
