Sport and Racing delivers quality services by providing responsive and integrated support services for sport, recreation and racing opportunities for all Queenslanders.
The team drives grassroots sport participation across the State through programs and services while also delivering the capital planning, build and maintenance program for the Department of Sport, Racing and Olympic and Paralympic Games (the Department). Ultimately the Department plays a key role in enabling Queensland's Sport Strategy and delivering the Government's commitments and priorities.
Snapshot of this position:
- Coordinate a range of outdoor recreation activities under the department's program delivery framework ensuring a safe, fun and high-quality customer experience.
- Responsible for the delivery of accredited training and implementation of the program risk management and quality assurance frameworks.
- Supervise the activities of Program Leaders and model a high level of professional and ethical conduct.
- Deliver training and/or quality assurance to team members.
- Develop, implement and manage risk management frameworks for recreational activities.
- Lead the development and implementation of activity specific policies and procedures for the safe, efficient and effective running of the Venue's programs and activities.
- Ensure that all aspects of the programs and activities at the Venue comply with workplace health and safety requirements, industry regulations and standards, and the state-wide program framework.
- Ensure that accompanying teachers / group leaders have a clear understanding of their roles and responsibilities while conducting activities at the Venue.
- Contribute to a workplace culture based on values and behaviours, ensuring a positive work environment that is safe, healthy, diverse, respectful and inclusive.
- Travel may be required to city; regional and remote locations including overnight stays.
You must hold the following or agreed equivalent:
- Current Driver's Licence
- Current First Aid and CPR certificate
- Certificate III in Outdoor Leadership with specialisation in a minimum of three of the following recreation activities:
o Abseiling, Artificial Surfaces
o Climbing, Artificial Surfaces
o Challenge Course, High Elements
o Canoeing, Inland Flat Water
o Kayaking, Inland Flat Water
o Surfing, Beginner
o Stand up Paddle Boarding, Inland Flat Water
o Lead Archery Sessions
Working with Children Check (Blue Card):
This role provides education, coaching and/or support services to children and young people and requires a valid Blue Card with the department. You will need to either obtain (at your own expense) or provide a copy of your current Blue Card, which will be validated prior to engagement.
