About the role
We are seeking an experienced Retail Manager to take full operational ownership of our retail store, team, and supporting operations. This is a genuine management role suited to someone who wants to lead, build, and be accountable for outcomes.

Salary Range: $75,000 to $85,000 plus guaranteed superannuation
Duties and Responsibilities
· Plan, organise and oversee the daily retail operations of the café, patisserie, cake shop, high-tea service and online ordering platform.
· Determine product range, merchandising displays and stock levels for cakes, pastries, desserts, beverages, gift vouchers and retail merchandise in line with customer demand and seasonal trends.
· Develop and implement purchasing strategies, negotiate with suppliers, and ensure the timely procurement of food ingredients, packaging materials, beverages and retail products.
· Monitor inventory levels, coordinate stock control procedures, conduct stocktakes and minimise wastage and shrinkage.
· Formulate and implement pricing, promotional and marketing strategies to maximise sales, profitability and brand awareness across in-store and online channels.
· Coordinate advertising campaigns, social media promotions, seasonal product launches, special events and high-tea packages to increase customer engagement and revenue.
· Analyse sales reports, customer trends and business performance data to identify growth opportunities and improve operational outcomes.
· Prepare and monitor budgets, control operational expenses and implement strategies to achieve revenue and profit targets.
· Maintain accurate records of sales, stock movements, supplier transactions, financial performance and retail operations.
· Recruit, train, roster, supervise and evaluate retail and customer service staff, ensuring appropriate staffing levels and performance standards.
· Lead and motivate team members to deliver exceptional customer service and maintain The Hatter & The Hare's brand standards and customer experience.
· Handle customer enquiries, feedback and complaints, resolving issues promptly to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction and repeat business.
· Coordinate online sales operations, order fulfilment processes, delivery arrangements and customer communication relating to cake and dessert orders.
· Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety, food safety, consumer protection and company operational policies and procedures.
· Liaise with owners, senior management, suppliers and external service providers to support business development initiatives and continuous operational improvement
Skills, experience and education required
· Diploma or higher qualification in Retail Management, Business Administration or related field.
· Minimum 1 year full-time relevant experience as a Retail Supervisor or Retail Manager.
· Strong leadership and staff management skills.
· Inventory and purchasing management experience.
· Financial and sales reporting capability.
· Customer service excellence.
· Knowledge of food safety and WHS compliance.
· Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
